Farm Life Today

The Farm is managed by the phenomenal duo of Tim and Pauline Henderson, now in their eighteenth year at Mainstone Farm. Here Tim is shown collecting sap from sugar maple trees in the late winter/early spring and transporting it through the woods in his snow shoes. The sap is then boiled down to maple syrup consistency in the sugar house.

Farm managers Tim and Pauline Henderson came to Mainstone in 1993, with their two young sons, Tim Jr. and Tom, then 3 and 1 1/2.  Both Tim and Pauline, being third generation farmers, wanted to continue with the tradition, as well as give their boys the kind of upbringing they had, enjoying the outdoors with an appreciation for nature, hard work , and quality food. With farm land diminishing and land prices rising, they ventured onto the avenue of managing a farm, leading them to Mainstone.

In 1999, Pauline started selling pumpkins  off of a hay wagon, and every year expanding with a few more pumpkins and then moving the  pumpkins from the hay wagon, into a pasture, to allow customers to have a larger choice and viewing area.  In 2004, they expanded into vegetables starting small and eventually diversifying the crops and including grass fed beef.
