Corn Bread

Ingredients
  • 1/4 to 1 1/4 cup sugar ( adjust to your taste — 3/4 c not too sweet)
  • 1/2 cup butter at room temperature
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups yellow cornmeal
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 F
  2. Butter a 13” x 9” x 2” glass baking dish.
  3. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl until blended.
  4. Add eggs and beat until well blended.
  5. Mix in water and cornmeal.
  6. Sift flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl and add to cornmeal mixture.
  7. Stir until blended, then transfer batter to prepared pan.
  8. Bake until bread is golden and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 35 minutes.
